I have the honour to report that Mr. M. J.
Breen, the Postmaster General, accompanied by some members
of his departmental staff proceeded to Canton on March 14th for the purpose of collaborating with the Chinese Authorities in the re-organisation of the Hong Kong-Canton Wireless
Service.
The visit was I may add, the sequel to a discussion I had with Marshal Li Chai-sum during my recent visit to
Canton, in the course of which Marshal Li remarked on the inadequacy of the existing wireless system at Canton and signified a desire for technical assistance in remedying its
deficiencies.

Stripped of technicalities the Postmaster
General's report, a copy of which is attached, shews that the Chinese Authorities recognise the benefits that better wireless communication with Hong Kong will bring. The conference, thanks largely to the vigorous co-operation of Mr. Chu Chao-hsin, the Commissioner for Foreign Affairs at Canton, got to business without delay. Agreement was speedily reached regarding the best method of utilising the existing apparatus for a provisional service, and a comprehensive programme was outlined under which each Administration undertook to provide the establishments and
